Christmas shows

Published by queenofmyworld under TV Edit This

I have to say Shrek the Halls is becoming one of my holiday favorites. I love all the Shrek movies, I felt like they got better each time. One thing I love about this show is that gingie is scared of Santa Clause, makes sense since he is a cookie. Anyway it’s really cute and if you haven’t seen it you should. Right after it tonight ABC was airing How the Grinch Stole Christmas another one of my holiday favorites, I do love the live action version too but you can’t beat the cartoon one. I usually list the live action one as my favorite Christmas movie but I absolutely love Boris Karloff’s narration and as the voice of the Grinch. Karloff was the monster in the original Frankenstein, from 1931 and his voice provided the perfect narration. Anyway in general I love Christmas specials, so this time of year is one of my favorites. TTFN!

American Idol Rewind

Published by queenofmyworld under TV, Thoughts Edit This

I have to say when I was watching American Idol this year and the judges kept saying, “This is the most talented group we have ever had!” well first of all I was like really even Kristy Lee Cook? But after that thought crossed my mind I thought give me a break they say that every year and it is so annoying. That being said today I was watching American Idol Rewind and it was season three and I realized the judges actually are right. This year by far had the most talented artists Idol has EVER seen. On that note I hope everyone remembers to buy David Cook’s debut album on November 18, 2008. TTFN!

Vampire Rights Amendment Cartoon

Published by queenofmyworld under Funny, TV Edit This

As you might remember for a previous post I LOVE the show True Blood that being said when the show first aired I found a YouTube page about it called Blood Copy and I subscribed to it. I had forgotten I subscribed to it till today when I came across it on my YouTube page. Anyway this funny video was on it so I figured I’d post it. It’s called “Vampire Rights Amendment Cartoon” and it literally made me laugh out loud. I figured I would share it and post it here. So here it is; it actually has a catchy tune.

Baseball

Published by queenofmyworld under TV, Thoughts Edit This

I was born and raised in the Bronx so obviously I’m a Yankees fan. So obviously I HATE the Red Sox. All that being said tonight is the last game of the ALCS and I am hoping with all my might the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox and win the series. In fact I even hope the Rays win the World Series they deserve it they are a highly underrated team.

Let’s get back to the Red Sox for now. What about this alleged “Curse of the Bambino” they suffered from. They didn’t win a World Series for what like 80 years? Then all of the sudden the curse was broken in 2004. So what does that mean there was no curse and they just sucked for a really long time. Anyway that’s my two cents for the day. TTFN.

Ugly Betty

Published by queenofmyworld under TV Edit This

Thursday’s episode of Ugly Betty was a pretty good episode. It had cameos by Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa, and Lindsay Lohan. There were a lot of changes at Mode since last season. I don’t want to give away too much about it so instead I’ll talk about how big Rebecca Romijn got during her pregnancy. I know she’s carrying twins but you can really tell she’s pregnant and since she’s playing a transsexual the writers couldn’t write the pregnancy into the script. Seeing how fat her face got and her growing belly it’s no wonder she’s only going to be in four episodes this season. It should be fun to see if she grows even more in the next three episodes.

Grey’s Anatomy

Published by queenofmyworld under TV Edit This

I’ve got so much to say about last night’s episode. It was good and all the drama you’d expect, but I have to say I don’t think two hours were necessary. Instead of having the show go on for two hours they should have split it up into two episodes. Next week it won’t be on and I can only assume that it’s because whatever show is premiering next week will have a two hour premier. Of course since they want you to keep watching the teaser for the next episode showed the hospital getting flooded. Anyway I don’t want to give away too much in case you haven’t seen it. It was good but two hours is a bit much drama for me to handle. Instead of giving shows two hour premiers I don’t see why ABC can’t just give their shows the regular hour episodes.

Andrew Cook

Published by queenofmyworld under Facebook, Myspace, TV Edit This

For those of you who don’t know Andrew is the younger brother of American Idol David Cook. If you didn’t watch season 7 of American Idol, or haven’t seen any interviews with David, then you haven’t heard the story of how David can to audition for Idol. As David tells the story, he went as Andrew’s moral support and waited in line with him a producer came over to interview Andrew and when he finished they pointed the camera at David. David said “I’m not auditioning,” and the producer said “Well now you are.”

Anyway, David made it and even though he is an amazing singer Andrew didn’t. All through season 7 of Idol Andrew was there supporting his big brother. Andrew is in his own right and amazing singer. If you want to know more about Andrew you can become a fan of him on facebook http://www.new.facebook.com/pages/Andrew-Cook/21392506657

For those of you who don’t know what David and/or Andrew look like here is a video of them singing the National Anthem at Sunday’s KC Chief’s home opener.

Fall season

Published by queenofmyworld under TV Edit This

This fall my DVR is going to be so full with all the amazing new shows that look so good, and of course the returning shows. Just off the top of my head here are some of the shows I’m going to be recording: On ABC-Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Dirty Sexy Money, Pushing Daises, Samantha Who, Dancing With The Stars, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters; on NBC- Momma’s Boys (Ryan Seacrest teams up with NBC for single men and their matchmaker moms), and Kath and Kim; on CBS- How I Met Your Mother, The Mentalist, Gary Unmarried, Worst Week; on the CW- Privileged, and 90210; and lastly on HBO, True Blood and Entourage.

Of the new shows I’ve listed here I’m sure if I like them at least half of them will get canceled. That always happens to me, when I like a show it gets canceled. I surprised Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice, and Pushing Daises got picked up for the fall because I liked them. Oh well here’s hoping the shows I end up liking stay on.

My new fav show!

Published by queenofmyworld under TV Edit This

I love the new HBO show “True Blood.” I’ve always been a fan of vampires, and yes I am aware how weird that sounds. I’ve loved the movie “Interview with the Vampire” since I was 12, probably even younger. What can I say I was in love with Brad Pitt? We’ll cover my lax parents some other time.

Anyway, back to “True Blood,” it takes place in today’s society but vampires are real and have “come out of the coffin” with the advent of synthetic blood. The show is from Alan Ball, creator of the hit HBO series “Six Feet Under.” It really is a great show but I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll focus on how creepy HBO has been promoting it.

On HBO.com you can watch a news expose on vampires in America, you can watch an American and French commercial for Tru Blood, a commercial for the American Vampire League, a pro vampire group, and one for the Fellowship of the Sun, an anti-vampire group. Not only can you see these extras but HBO has also been running print ads saying: “FRIENDS DON’T LET FRIENDS DRINK FRIENDS.” “ALL FLAVOR. NO BITE.” “REAL BLOOD IS FOR SUCKERS.” “SUCK ON THIS.”

The people at HBO even went as far as creating a website for Tru Blood, trubeaverage.com. This site takes creepy to a whole new level. When you go to the website you have to enter the month, day, and century you were turned. Then you can see a description of all the blood types, A, B, AB, and O. You can also take a quiz to see which type would be best for you; I’d prefer Type A “The Cultivated Aesthete.” You can also see the ads, download wallpaper and screensavers, and buddy icons.

Oh did I mention you can shop at truebeaverage.com? You can buy Tru Blood shirts, sweatshirts, a glass, a coffee mug, ladies boy briefs, and even a onsie for your baby. You can also, on HBO.com, buy a Merlotte’s (the town’s bar) tee, coffee mug, shot glasses, and beer mug. Don’t get me wrong I know every TV show has merchandise but you’ve got to admit it’s a bit creepy just how far HBO has taken this. All that being said however, “True Blood” is a great show and you show defiantly check it out.
